In a night that appeared to have more scares than the original Anfield script has become accustomed to this season, Liverpool survived a rare night of struggle in this stellar season to overcome West Ham United and close to within four wins of the Premier League title – and many supporters have reacted to the performance of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Jurgen Klopp’s team made it Liverpool 21 starigt home Premier League victories, equalling the English top-flight record for consecutive home wins. Also, the Reds’ 26th triumph of the season matched the English top-flight record of 18 successive wins, set by Manchester City from August to December 2017, with the champions-elect last dropping points in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in October.
Liverpool took an early lead when Georginio Wijnaldum converted from Alexander-Arnold’s inch-perfect cross. David Moyes’ side showed great character to hit back through Issa Diop’s header and even threatened to end the Reds’ 34-month unbeaten Anfield league run when substitute Pablo Fornals swept West Ham into the lead nine minutes after the break.
However, the European champions fought back after Fabianski inexplicably allowed Mohamed Salah’s shot to squirm through his legs in the 68th minute before Sadio Mane settled the contest nine minutes from time Alexander-Arnold’s lofted the ball found the Senegalese ace.

The England international appears to be getting better-and-better with each passing week. Since the start of last season, no other player in the PL comes close to Alexander-Arnold’s mouthwatering 24 top-flight assists.
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool’s very-own academy graduate took the man-of-the-match award home and many Kopites have reacted on Twitter following another stellar showing from the Ballon d’Or nominee.
Here is a selection of tweets showcasing Alexander-Arnold’s unwavering brilliance.
@trentaa98 25 assists in total in his #EPL career, Alexander-Arnold is the 3rd youngest player in any position to reach that mark – behind only @cesc4official & @WayneRooney. #LFC #Legend #YNWA

Surely at least 4 of the traditional 6 man short-list for PFA Footballer of the Year have to come from @LFC:
Van Dijk
Alexander-Arnold
Henderson
ManeBut who gets the nod.
And where do the other 2 come from?

Best player on the pitch today was undoubtedly Trent Alexander-Arnold. Generational talent, best fullback in the league and probably Europe. We’re so lucky to have him. #LFC
