Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has responded hilariously to the Reds’ Twitter account post that featured a free-kick competition between the big Dutchman, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson.
The UEFA Player of the Year alongside Liverpool’s senior players returned to first-team training on Monday afternoon following some much-needed recovery time where the players enjoyed a small period off with their friends and families.
Liverpool will return to Premier League action following the governing body’s inaugural winter break on Saturday when the league leaders travel to Carrow Road to face Norwich City.
One standout feature of the training montage included a good-natured free-kick competition between Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk.
Club captain Henderson scored the pick of the bunch after sending a right-footed pile-driver off the inside of the post before running off in celebration to embrace teammate Andy Robertson.
The video also featured Van Dijk humorously informing that the team would require a new set-piece specialist.
“Listen, Trent is off free-kicks”, Van Dijk joked after his fellow Ballon d’Or nominee struck one of his less memorable free-kicks during a Melwood training session on Monday.

Despite the good-natured training ground antics not going in Alexander-Arnold’s favour, the 21-year-old will not be relieved from his set-piece duties anytime soon considering the young scouser has 28 assists in all competitions since the start of last season.
