Liverpool’s youngster secured a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup by beating Shrewsbury Town 1-0 at Anfield – and many of the Reds’ senior stars have reacted to Pedro Chirivella’s performance on Instagram.

The European champions’ youngest-ever starting line-up kept the club’s FA Cup dream alive on one of the most remarkable nights in Liverpool’s history.

Sam Ricketts and his team came to Anfield looking for an upset. They got one. Only it was at the League One side’s expense.

A Ro-Shaun Williams own goal 15 minutes from time was enough for Neil Critchley’s youngsters to make club-history. Shaun Whalley did have a goal overturned by VAR with the score goalless. Liverpool, however, prevailed in the end.

One player who embodied the fearless mentality to drive his team over the line was Pedro Chirivella.

Chirivella, 22, is currently in the final months of his current contract at Anfield. Indeed, it is a possibility that the midfielder could leave the club for nothing in June, with the Spaniard failing to make a serious breakthrough into Liverpool’s first team since joining the academy in 2013.

Since he joined as a 16-year-old almost seven years ago, the Spain youth international has gone on to play just nine times for the Reds first team, his most-recent league appearance back in 2016. During his four-year-spell Chirivella has been on loan in The Netherlands on two occasions, and in Spain.

With Adam Lallana reportedly leaving the club in the summer, Chirivella’s recent performances could prompt Jurgen Klopp to consider the player’s future and potentially offer a new deal.

Following last night’s miraculous display, many of Chirivella’s Liverpool teammates – including Bournemouth loanee Harry Wilson – have sent the Valencia-born midfielder messages on Instagram.

They were so impressed with yet another dynamic and assured FA Cup bout that they took to social media to congratulate the Spanish maestro.

Liverpool will take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the next round on Thursday, March 5.
