Two Champions League-winners comment on Fabinho's Instagram following first PL start since November

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho made his first Premier League start since November during the Reds’   4-0 victory against Southampton at Anfield on Saturday – and two Champions League-winning midfielders have reacted on Instagram.

Fabinho, 26, hasn’t been amongst Jurgen Klopp’s PL senior XI since he sustained ligament damage during a 1-1 stalemate with Napoli in November that ruled him out for the best part of three months.

The Brazilian was deployed back in his familiar defensive midfielder role with Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum completing the Reds’ most tried-and-trusted midfield triumvirate.

Fabinho has clocked up 24 appearances in all competitions for the European champions this season – he has two assists and scored his only goal of the season after sending a piledriver past Claudio Bravo in the 3-1 victory against Manchester City earlier this season.

Following Liverpool’s 24th victory of the season, Fabinho, after playing the full 90-minutes, took to Instagram to celebrate his team extending their lead at the top of the table to 22 points.

He wrote: ‘Great one today, lads. Let’s keep working on it. Step by step.’

An assured performance from the former Monaco star was coupled with a response from his club-captain Jordan Henderson as well as former Fluminense teammate and legendary Portugal international Deco.

Liverpool have now won 16 consecutive league matches which has seen the Reds go 22 points clear of second-placed Manchester City. Such a margin is the biggest lead any team have ever had at the end of a day in English top-flight history.

The Reds’ latest triumph – their 24th from 25 – means they have now taken a jaw-dropping 100 points from the last 102 on offer. They are up to 73 points already this season on February’s opening day.
