Liverpool fans in awe of Roberto Firmino following faultless performance against Southampton

Liverpool extended their gargantuan lead at the top of the Premier League table to 22 points following their 4-0 victory against Southampton at Anfield – and many Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to Roberto Firmino’s incredible performance.

The unbeaten Reds made it 16 straight top-flight victories and equalled Manchester City’s record of 20 consecutive home wins. Jurgen Klopp’s European champions have now taken 100 points from their previous 102 available – the 22-point gap at the top is the biggest lead any league-leader has ever in English top-flight history.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the opener just after half time – his second goal in as many league matches. Club captain Jordan Henderson made it 2-0 on the hour mark with a calm finish after being set up by Roberto Firmino.

Henderson then played in Mohamed Salah for Liverpool’s third and the Egypt international made it a brace from close range after Firmino made it a hat-trick of assists.

The 28-year-old is currently embarking on his fifth season with the Reds since his £29m [BBC Sport] move from the Bundesliga. The Champions League-winning forward has 76 goals and 56 assists in 227 matches for the league leaders.

The Brazil international capped off another stunning performance to what has already been an outstanding campaign for the former Hoffenheim star. Firmino has clocked up 35 appearances for the Premier League champions-elect this season and has 10 goals and 12 assists in that time.

Following the victory, many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to showcase their appreciation to the Reds’ irreplaceable Brazilian.
