Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has labelled his former side as ‘the best team in the world’ following their 4-0 demolition job over Leicester City.

The European champions moved 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table after claiming their 17th victory of the season.

Liverpool’s impressive win came just four days after returning from their FIFA Club World Cup-winning campaign in Doha, Qatar. The Reds have now registered 52 points from a possible 54 in the league following the victory over Brendan Rodgers’ side in arguably their best performance of the season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, 21, was particularly impressive against the Foxes on Boxing Day. The home-grown academy graduate scored his second league goal of the season whilst also registering 2 assists. He has more assists (20) than any other Premier League player during 2019.

Following the win, Sky Sports pundit Carragher was quick to praise his former team on social media whom he believes are the best there is currently in club football.

What RTK has to say

Its difficult to argue with Carragher when judging a team that has only dropped two points since March. After completing the continental treble, Liverpool swiftly returned to domestic action to produce one of the best performances of the Jurgen Klopp era.

Thursday evening’s 4-0 romping was Liverpool’s biggest of the season so far. The Reds are also only seven days away from going a full calendar year unbeaten in the league.

2019 has proved one of the most successful years in the club’s illustrious 127-year history and still, there is the belief that 2020 will be even better.

The continued success under Klopp vindicates why the FIFA Coach of the Year is Liverpool’s most revolutionary manager since Bill Shankly.
