Liverpool left it late again to conjure up a 2-1 victory in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final to ensure their progression to Saturdays’s final.

Roberto Firmino came off the bench to convert the winner against Monterrey in stoppage time to set up a clash with his Brazilian counterparts Flamengo at the weekend.

Jurgen Klopp made five changes to the defeat at Watford with the most noticeable alteration seeing Virgil van Dijk miss the match through illness with club-captain Jordan Henderson covering at centre-back.

The victory means Liverpool will take part in their first CWC final since 2005 and will also present the  Reds with the opportunity to avenge the 1981 final defeat to Saturday’s opponents Flamengo.
