'Vindicated': Charlie Nicholas backs Klopp to come up with the magic again

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has predicted for Liverpool to claim their 15th league win of the season and establish a 10-point lead at the top of the Premier League table in his weekly predictions column.

The European champions are in scintillating form of late claiming 43 points – from a possible 45 – to comfortably sit above all title rivals in their pursuit of the Holy Grail.

Jurgen Klopp claimed his 100th league victory on Wednesday in the 5-2 win against Everton – the second quickest manager ever to reach the feat.

There were eyebrows raised when the 2019 FIFA Coach of the Year made five changes to the team that beat Brighton on the weekend but once again Klopp delivered a tactical masterclass to inspire Liverpool to victory in the 234th Merseyside derby.

The German manager’s two changes in Liverpool’s front-line (Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi) provided three goals as they romped to their 14th league win of the campaign and Nicholas was certainly impressed with the bold changes.

“Everything Jurgen Klopp touches turns to gold”, Nicholas said in his Sky Sports column.

“I thought he would rest players for this game but, no, he rested Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson in the Merseyside derby, and he was vindicated.

“Bournemouth, meanwhile, are in free fall and lacking confidence. They are trying to be more solid defensively, but that is hampering them going forward. It’s a dangerous combination for Eddie Howe’s side.”

Liverpool travel to Bournemouth with an impressive record against Eddie Howe’s team. Klopp has four consecutive wins over the Cherries and the hosts will be without their top-scorer Harry Wilson who is ineligible against his parent club.
