Liverpool’s final pre-season friendly of the summer is against Lyon as the Reds face the French side on Wednesday.
The Reds were very poor against Napoli as they were soundly beaten 3-0 at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.
Jurgen Klopp will be looking for a major improvement from his players but will thankfully have some of his best players returning for the game at the Stade de Geneve.
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Alisson Becker, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri are all back in training this week after returning from either holiday or injury.
Klopp will no doubt want to give his returning stars game time so, with that in mind, here is the predicted lineup to face Lyon.
In goal, Alisson Becker will take over from Simon Mignolet, who has been relatively poor even though it’s only pre-season after the Belgian dropped a shot from Bruno Fernandes in his own net in New York.
At the back, Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk will start centrally while Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will start on the flanks.
In midfield, hopefully, Naby Keita will be given a start as the Guinean needs some minutes in the tank before the season starts. He should start alongside Fabinho and Jordan Henderson which is arguably Liverpool’s strongest midfield trio.
In front of them, Salah and Firmino should return to the starting XI and must be partnered with Xherdan Shaqiri as all three need to get match fit for the start of the season.
Starting XI: Alisson, Robertson, Matip, van Dijk, Trent, Hendo, Keita, Fabinho, Salah, Shaqiri, Firmino.
