Tony Cascarino told Weekend Sports Breakfast on TalkSport that he thinks Liverpool will make late moves to sign two new players this summer.

The only moves the Reds have made this summer were for Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott, who aren’t expected to make an impact in the first-team just yet.

Liverpool need a new left-back and new forward to replace Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno but, with each passing day, it looks ever more likely that the Reds won’t make any more signings.

Speaking to Weekend Sports Breakfast on TalkSport (27/07/2019 at 10:30 am), Cascarino said: “As much as Liverpool are very, very quiet, I still think they will make a signing or maybe two. I don’t think they will go through this whole window with not really bringing in any players.

“As we get to the final day, there are clubs waiting in the wings. Sometimes out of nowhere people become available. The vultures that these clubs are, once they see a move that’s possible because Liverpool standards are very high. They might make a steal on someone.”

As much as supporters want Liverpool to jump into action, the most likely scenario is that Jurgen Klopp goes into the new season without any major signings.

He has said time and again that he has full faith in his squad and even the likes of Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk have come out saying the squad is strong enough without further additions.

It will be interesting to see how Klopp and his coaching staff cope with the inevitable injuries that a long season causes. But hopefully not making any new signings isn’t something that comes to haunt the German.
