Roberto Firmino needed a much more restful summer after he struggled for form last season, with the 2019/20 campaign set to be gruelling.
The Reds are faced with three extra games in December due to FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar as well as having several of their key stars missing a large portion of pre-season.
Jurgen Klopp will need to be very creative with his squad rotation at the start of the season to avoid the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino suffering from a burnout.
Firmino, in particular, needed more rest than he has been afforded after he struggled to impress last season, with the former Hoffenheim star looking lethargic and worn out.
Given how important he is to Jurgen Klopp’s style of play, the German cannot afford to let Firmino suffer from fatigue or pick up an injury as the success of the system largely depends on the Brazilian.
He scored and assisted an incredible 39 goals in the 17/18 season but last season he was involved in just 23 goals which is still fantastic but nowhere near his best.
The 2019/20 season will likely see Klopp place a lot of emphasis on winning the Premier League after the Reds won the Champions League last season and Firmino is key to their title bid.
If he remains fit and firing for the whole season, Liverpool will have a great chance of beating Manchester City to the crown but if he suffers from long periods of anonymity as he did last season, the Merseysiders might look toothless at times.
