Max Kruse told beIN Sports that he rejected an offer from Liverpool to join Fenerbahce which suggests that Jurgen Klopp still wants a forward.
The German recently joined the Turkish outfit after being linked with a move to Anfield.
He told beIN Sports: “I had lots of offers, Liverpool were one of these sides. I picked Fenerbache as I had this feeling that Fenerbahce are the next step for me. Fenerbahce had an attractive project for me.”
Liverpool are yet to make any major moves this summer and while Jurgen Klopp already has a very strong squad, there is the belief that he needs one or two more players to ensure his chances of winning more silverware aren’t ruined by injuries to key stars.
Nicolas Pepe has been linked with Liverpool all summer but there is yet to be any concrete reports suggesting that the Reds are close to signing him or are even interested anymore.
However, their offer to Kruse being rejected suggests that they are clearly keen on adding an attacker to their squad but were unable to convince the German forward to join.
With Daniel Sturridge no longer at the club following his contract’s expiry this year, there is an empty spot in Liverpool’s squad which would ideally be filled by a new forward that could challenge Salah, Mane and Firmino for a spot in the starting XI.
The next two weeks will be quite interesting as we will see whether or not Klopp will remain silent until the transfer window shuts or if he will conduct some late business.
