Liverpool manager Jurgen klopp has told the media that there is no point playing down how good Rhian Brewster is and promised he’ll play an important role this season.
“I love the boy, he is fantastic player. Why should I play it down?” Klopp told the Independent.
“Rhian Brewster is a top striker, he is a top talent and I have told him already that he has an important role this year – but how important depends on him.”
The 19-year-old has scored three goals this pre-season, prompting Liverpool fans to get excited about what he might bring to the fold in the Premier League this year.
Not only did Klopp wait patiently for Brewster to return from his serious ankle injury but he also has left a spot open in his squad despite Daniel Sturridge leaving the club, highlighting how highly he rates the Kirkby graduate.
Liverpool went to great lengths to convince Brewster not to leave the club and join Borussia Monchengladbach and even cancelled a pre-season friendly with the Bundesliga outfit last season.
Klopp has promised that Brewster will be an important figure for the Reds this season so it will be hugely exciting to see how much the young striker plays and how he performs in his first season at senior level.
The Premier League is a difficult division to impress in and the speed of the game can often surprise young players but the maturity with which Brewster has played in pre-season suggests he is more than ready for the challenge.
