Harry Wilson unlikely to rejoin Derby according to Rams boss

Derby County boss Philipp Cocu told the media that it will be very hard to re-sign Harry Wilson on loan which could mean he is set to stay at Anfield this season.

The young forward is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Reds and after his stunning loan spell with the Rams, he deserves a chance at making a name for himself in Red.

21 goals in the Championship won’t translate directly into a 20-goal season in the Premier League for Liverpool but he could be a fine player to have on the bench against stubborn defences.

Cocu said last week: “If you look at the value of those players to the team last season, it was very big. But it will be very difficult, I think. I won’t say impossible, but it will be hard

“We are still working to strengthen the team and there are a lot of possibilities still. I don’t want to name any names yet, but we are trying to get some players in.”

While Wilson hasn’t been in sparkling form this pre-season, his spell on loan should be all that Klopp needs to see to give the 22-year-old a real chance to break into the Liverpool starting XI.

He couldn’t have much better forwards in his way as he faces the prospect of displacing Premier League golden boot winners Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who have scored 86 league goals in the last two seasons.

That said, all the Welshman needs to do is find the same form he did last season and show what he’s capable of whenever he takes to the field. If he scores a goal in a big game he could be given a chance to start when Mane or Salah need to rest.

This season is huge for the Kirkby graduate.
