Liverpool supporters have expressed their anger about the way Sevilla players made challenges in their pre-season defeat to the Spanish side.
The Reds suffered a 2-1 defeat at Fenway Park and saw Yasser Larouci put on a stretcher in the 80th minute after an awful challenge from Joris Gnagnon while Ever Benega was guilty of a few poor tackles in the first half.
Not only was Larouci forced off the pitch but he was even shouted at by Sevilla players for going down too easily when it was clear that the young full-back was in a lot of pain.
Given that pre-season is all about building your fitness levels and getting back into the rhythm of training and playing football regularly, there is no need for dangerous challenges or aggressive behaviour as the outcome of matches are irrelevant.
After Larouci was injured, Twitter exploded into life with some fans even saying that Liverpool should have called the game off and walked away from a pointlessly risky friendly.
Here is what supporters on social media had to say…
Liverpool should keep all the gate receipt from this match and never schedule another friendly with Sevilla again.

That’s out of order for a pre season friendly game no need for that in any type of game

The manager suppose to call off the game after the tackle, @lfc can’t continue to play friendlies with a club that recruits terrorists

Van Dijk, Henderson and Robertson all went straight to Joris Gnagnon at full-time. Shocking tackle which could be serious for Yasser Larouci. Ruined the game.

Larouci will be lucky to avoid injury after being kicked so hard but it should be said that most fans will be glad to never again see Sevilla play the Reds in a pre-season friendly.
As for competitive games, they can only hope to avoid the La Liga outfit in the Champions League in the future.
Liverpool play Sporting Lisbon next and hopefully, the Portuguese side offers a more sporting attitude in their friendly with the European Champions.
