Christian Eriksen wants to leave Tottenham and Liverpool have been urged to make a move for the Danish midfielder by Dean Saunders.
The former Liverpool striker told talkSPORT: “They could spend it [transfer budget] maybe… I think Eriksen could slot into Liverpool’s team; somebody like Eriksen.
“That type of player who will make their midfield a bit more productive.”
Christian Eriksen scored 13 goals and assisted another 13 for teammates last season, demonstrating how balanced his gameplay is as he played slightly deeper for Spurs than he has in recent years.
He helped the Lily Whites to a Champions League final where he saw his side beaten 2-0 by Liverpool but their failure to beat a much better Reds outfit is hardly a reflection on the Dane’s abilities.
Not only is Eriksen a goalscorer, but he is also able to score from the kind of range that makes Philippe Coutinho such a wanted man among Liverpool supporters.
The Mirror reported in June that Spurs value Eriksen at a whopping £130m which means he is certain to not be a player that Klopp is weighing up a move for.
He’s already 27 and simply isn’t a great signing from a business point of view and not one that aligns with Fenway Sports Group’s transfer policy at all.
It would make much more sense to save that £130million and plan for next summer as it doesn’t look like Liverpool will complete any more signings before the Premier League season starts.
