Jurgen Klopp told the club’s official website that James Milner is as professional as any player that he has ever managed as the English midfielder continues to wow fans and coaching staff.

“There have not been many,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com when asked if he could think of better professionals than Milner.

“I was blessed to have a few players like this; Sebastian Kehl, for example, at Dortmund was a more experienced player in a very young team and was a leader in that team, like Millie is. And I think Millie improved his football a lot in the last two or three years as well.

“Millie looks again in the pre-season like [he’s in] in his early 20s; but he isn’t, he knows that, and we try to respect that. But he is not only in the game not really stoppable, in training it’s the same. All good.”

Milner has repeatedly shown why supporters, pundits and opposition sides should never underestimate him as he continues to defy the ravages of time and is easily the fittest Liverpool player.

Every year since he joined the Reds, he has recorded the best times in their annual lactate test that is conducted on their return to Melwood for pre-season training.

With a Champions League medal around his neck, the former Man City winger will start the new season with the ambition of winning a Premier League title with Liverpool.

He won one with City but if he does so at Anfield, he’ll undoubtedly go down as a Liverpool and Premier League great not just because he is very talented but because of his professionalism and dedication.

In a day and age where footballers seem to be slightly out of touch with the common man, Milner continues to be universally adored for his attitude.
