Liverpool fans should forget about Jurgen Klopp completing a marquee signing this summer and instead appreciate the quality that is already on hand.
The only player that Liverpool have signed since the transfer window opened is teenage Dutch star Sepp van Den Berg, who is yet to make an appearance this summer due to paperwork issues with FIFA.
This lack of transfer activity from the Reds has resulted in supporters becoming more and more agitated but is their frustration justified or they just being greedy?
Some fans want to see Liverpool complete a loan-to-buy deal that would see Philippe Coutinho return to the club as part of an £88million package deal, according to Calciomercato.
To an extent, fans can feel justified in feeling worried about Liverpool not making big plays in the market but given the amount of quality at Anfield already, not signing any big names stars might be understandable.
Up front, Liverpool already have three of the best attackers not just in the Premier League but in the Champions League too, with Sadio Mane, Bobby Firmino and Mohamed Salah all world class forwards.
On the bench, Jurgen Klopp can call on Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and potentially Harry Wilson if he’s kept on beyond this summer and while none of Liverpool’s reserve attackers are world class, keeping first rate players happy without offering guaranteed starting roles is expensive and problematic.
In central midfield, there is an overwhelming amount of quality available to Klopp and while it’s debatable whether any of them are world class, the likes of Naby Keita and Fabinho will soon be at that level.
In defence, Liverpool have the best central defender in the world and his supporting cast of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez is hugely exciting.
Beyond those five defenders, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne offer a very solid reserve and, of course, the quietly spectacular Alisson Becker stands in goal.
This squad won the Champions League this year and between them has three or four players that would be deserved Balon d’Or winners after they started the year in spectacular fashion.
