Steven Bergwijn and reported Liverpool target has praised Virgil van Dijk in an interview with Goal, labelling him “an absolute beast” after the incredible season the Dutch centre half enjoyed.
Having helped guide Liverpool to Champions League glory after helping his side concede fewer goals than any side in the Premier League, van Dijk is enjoying a well earned holiday.
He’s expected back at Melwood soon ahead of an important season and is widely considered the best defender in the world.
Bergwijn told Goal: “Van Dijk is an absolute beast. Of course, it is good to be able to measure myself against him in training with the national team.
“But not just Virgil, they all play for massive clubs. I learn from all of them really. They all have a lot of experience and almost everyone plays for a big club.”
Liverpool were linked tentatively with Bergwijn by Sport in August last year but there has been nothing concrete to suggest that Jurgen Klopp might sign him this summer.
In fact, there is nothing to suggest the Reds will be signing any big names before the start of the new Premier League so it will be up to the likes of van Dijk and Salah to ensure more silverware is won at Anfield.
The Reds were incredible last season so the hope is that they can repeat their 97-point league run and win the Champions League again and given that Jurgen Klopp is at the helm, anything is possible.
