Former Liverpool goalkeeper Doni helped the Reds sign Alisson Becker from AS Roma by recommending him to John Achterberg.
The Brazilian joined the Reds last summer and has established himself as the best goalkeeper in the world, taking his new side to Champions League glory in his debut season.
Liverpool lacked a world-class goalkeeper ever since Pepe Reina left the club and the difference recruiting one has made is intangible.
“When I saw him play, I immediately recommended him to John and tried to get him signed,” Doni told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I explained to John that he was a very skillful player and that he would soon play for the national team.
“The first time I saw him playing for Inter, I knew he had what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.”
Next on the silverware wishlist for Liverpool is the Premier League as Jurgen Klopp aims to end their 30 year wait to win England’s most coveted trophy.
The Reds have never been in a better position to go on and win the title but having said that, they will need to overcome an incredible Manchester City side in order to do so.
Alisson will be key once again and if he can once again win the Golden Glove, he will surely help Liverpool edge closer to winning the Premier League for the first time ever.
