Dutch daily newspaper De Telegraaf reports that Sevilla want to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, but Liverpool should gazump the Spaniards to sign the Moroccan.
Liverpool won the Champions League last season and should have their pick of the European crop should they choose to pursue the continent’s hottest prospects.
One player who starred during UEFA’s elite competition last season was Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech, with the Moroccan scoring and assisting six goals.
He might not be in the same spectrum as the likes of Bruno Fernandes but Ziyech is a player that would be special under Jurgen Klopp, with his work rate and technical ability perfect for the German’s system.
De Telegraaf reports that Sevilla are willing to pay Ajax’s €30m (£26.9m) valuation as well as the player’s personal terms but Liverpool can’t allow the La Liga side to sign him.
They need to gazump them with a slightly higher offer of £30m which would hardly break the bank.
In all competitions last season, Ziyech scored and assisted 37 goals for Ajax and even if he only managed a third of that for Liverpool, Klopp would be getting his money’s worth.
The Merseysiders were linked with a move for the 26-year-old by the Mirror in April and hopefully, their interest persists and a deal can be agreed with Ajax.
Ziyech is definitely the best value for money option to replace Philippe Coutinho.
