Naby Keita received treatment four times during Guinea’s 1-0 defeat to Nigeria on Wednesday and Liverpool fans are furious.
The midfielder suffered three separate injuries last season and while the Liverpool medical team didn’t want him to travel to the Africa Cup of Nations, he was rushed back into action by Guinea.
In his first game at the continental competition, Keita was given rough treatment by the Nigeria midfield and was eventually substituted but not before he received medical treatment four times.
There is no official confirmation yet over whether or not he was withdrawn due to a fresh injury complaint or merely because he is not yet fully match fit.
Jurgen Klopp will be incensed if the former RB Leipzig midfielder suffers an injury with pre-season scheduled to start next month.
Liverpool fans are already furious and they have expressed their anger online.
This is hurting me watching a clearly unfit Naby Keita struggling. he shouldn’t be playing in this tournament ffs.

Every time Keïta goes down my heart stops. He’s just getting kicked whenever he’s on the ball

The only way you stop Keita is that you injure him, that’s the message I’m getting at the moment

Baffles me as to why Keita has been rushed back. He clearly isn’t ready.

Naby Keita finally been taken off for Guinea against Nigeria today.
Targeted all match and a few injury concerns.
Clearly not ready to play yet.

The 24-year-old joined Liverpool as part of a £48million deal and was even handed Steven Gerrard’s icon no.8 jersey but has endured a rough season with injury concerns regularly cropping up.
There are huge expectations of the Guinea international, with the Melwood coaching staff excited about the player he could blossom into over the next few years.
Hopefully, Keita can come through the AFCON tournament without any serious injury problems, enjoy his holidays and return refreshed for pre-season before truly setting Europe alight with his undeniable talent.
