The Dutchman won the Champions League with Liverpool last season and is thrilled about the prospect of building more great memories with the Reds.

He joined the club in 2017 as part of a world record deal for a defender which saw Liverpool spend £75million to bring him to the club.

That money has been justified after the 27-year-old helped guide the Reds to consecutive Champions League finals, winning the second one against Spurs in Madrid at the start of June.

Van Dijk told the club’s official website: “I think the future looks pretty bright.

“We have a fantastic team with players that want to develop, that want to give everything for the team and for the club.

“[There is] so much quality in the team; sometimes you don’t even realise how good of [a group of] players we have – and also on the bench that want to play and be part of the team. So we have a fantastic future coming up.”

Jurgen Klopp is in the process of building an incredible legacy at Liverpool and the likes of van Dijk, Salah and Alisson are all absolutely vital to the success of his work.

Without the world-class core that he has assembled, the future would not look so bright for all those associated with the club.

Not only are there players at the club that are either in their prime or nearing the best days of their career, but there are also the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold that still have their entire career ahead of them.

Liverpool could win several pieces of silverware in the next few years if Klopp can capitalise on what he’s achieved so far.
