Liverpool have been linked with a mega-money move to sign the Senegal international, who has now told Goal that he is unsure of what the future holds for him.
In Italy, Il Mattino claims that the Reds are one of the many sides keen on the 28-year-old.
It would take a mega bid to sign him from Napoli, with the Serie A outfit valuing him at around €150m (£134m).
He told Goal: “I don’t know [if I’ll still be at Napoli next year], I think so but I have to play the Afcon and then after that, I’ll go back to Napoli.”
“Everyone’s speaking about me, but I’m only speaking about Senegal because that’s my objective today and I want to achieve something big with Senegal.”
There isn’t a defence in Europe that Koulibaly wouldn’t improve and that’s a testament to how talented and experienced he is.
The Times’ Jonathan Northcroft told the Transfer Window Podcast that the Reds are biding their time in the market until a top player becomes available and perhaps that player might be Koulibaly.
If there is a window this summer for Liverpool to strike and sign the former Genk giant, they need to seize the opportunity with both hands before one of their rivals are able to.
Klopp and FSG have enhanced their reputations in the last few years with their success in the transfer market turning them into European champions.
In order to take the next step, signing the likes of Koulibaly is necessary.
