Tottenham are favourites to land Tanguy Ndombele this summer, according to the Independent but Liverpool should look to hijack a move after they scouted him in May.

Liverpool sent scouts to watch Lyon beat Marseille 3-0 in May, as the Reds’ delegation watched Houssem Aouar, Memphis Depay and Ndombele, as per Meracto365.

While supporters have had a lot to say about Liverpool potentially signing Depay this summer, Ndombele should be the man they look to recruit before the start of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

The Independent reports that Spurs are favourites to land the Frenchman as they have opened talks with Lyon over a deal that is expected to cost over £60million.

Not only can Liverpool not afford to let a rival sign such a talented midfielder but they too could do with Ndombele’s talents, with the 22-year-old adept at turning over possession and then driving at opposition defences.

Not only is he technically gifted, but the former Amiens midfielder’s frame and physical dominance would also be a boon for Klopp.

After beating Tottenham in the final of the Champions League, Liverpool need to pip their rivals to Ndombele’s signature and much like Bayern have over the years, ensure that a rival cannot sign a player that would make a huge difference for them.

Signing a player for over £60m might not be on the cards for Liverpool this season but Ndombele will be one of the best midfielders in the world in a few years and would flourish under Klopp.
