The Mirror reports that Jurgen Klopp’s “clever management” has set the stage for Rhian Brewster to become a superstar at Anfield.
The young forward was expected to return from injury a lot earlier than he did and so the 18/19 season was not his breakthrough campaign.
Yet, Klopp did not make him do his physiotherapy with the reserve squad but ensured the next Academy breakout was at Melwood doing his rehab in the presence of first-team players.
That, as the Mirror, aptly points out, was a masterstroke from Klopp as it means that once he gets to play with the first team, he will already have formed crucial relationships with the likes of Chamberlain.
It was a simple move from Klopp but his “clever management” has set the stage for Brewster to be the Reds next big thing and there is a strong belief at Melwood that the 19-year-old will be a special player.
Not only did he train at Melwood last season but he also travelled with the side to Madrid for their pre-Champions League final warm weather camp and was included in the Reds’ 23-man squad for the clash with Spurs.
Small gestures like those earn a lot of respect with players and Brewster is sure to be desperate to repay Klopp’s faith when he gets his chance next season.
Liverpool will be raring to go when the 19/20 Premier League season kicks off as the Reds aim to win their first title since 1990.
