Journalists from Italy have claimed that AC Milan have made an approach to Liverpool regarding a summer move for Dejan Lovren.

Tancredi Palmieri claims AC Milan have contacted the Reds about signing Lovren while Gianluca Di Marzio writes that the Italians want the Croatian to help them return to European dominance.

Liverpool signed Lovren from Southampton in 2014 for a reported £20m fee but his tendency to make fatal errors in big games has led to supporters being more than happy to see the 29-year-old leave.

With Joel Matip and Joe Gomez proving this season that they both offer more to Liverpool than Lovren does, it might occur to the former Dinamo Zagreb that he needs to move elsewhere to get back to playing regularly.

If Palmeri and Di Marzio are correct and AC Milan have approached the Reds over Lovren, it would be in the best interest to agree a permanent deal for this summer.

Here is how excited Liverpool fans have reacted.

Lovren is best mates with Mohamed Salah and there are some concerns among fans that losing the Croatian would negatively impact the Egyptian but that seems unlikely as Mo is a consummate professional and wouldn’t let something like that affect him.

Selling Lovren might not be a priority for Lovren but if the opportunity does present itself as it seems it has, accepting a bid for the 29-year-old seems like a logical decision.
