After an impressive display for England against Switzerland, the young full-back was hailed by Jamie Carragher while the former Liverpool defender was live on Sky Sports.

“The one everyone will be talking about is Trent at right-back,” Carragher said during the Sky commentary of the game (Sky Sports, Sunday, 4:00pm).

“He’s been outstanding. Beckham-esque I called him at half-time. He’s been the big winner in this game.”

Against Switzerland, the Scouser completed the most passes in the final third (48), the most crosses (18) and the most key passes (7).

While the season began with Liverpool fans convinced that Andy Robertson was their best fullback, an incredible campaign from Trent has seen those opinions reshaped.

The 20-year-old assisted 15 goals for the Reds last season and still has so much room to improve.

If the Academy graduate can improve defensively, he will one day be spoken of around the world as one of the best ever fullbacks.

Despite his youth, there is a case to be made for Trent to be considered as the best fullback in the world.
