Liverpool signing Nabil Fekir for his reported discounted price would see the Reds provided with a lot more versatility up front.
The Frenchman is available for just £15million this summer and after being told to pay £53million last summer, Liverpool must act to sign the versatile midfielder.
A move was ultimately ruled out last summer but if Vincent Duluc is correct and Fekir is available at a discounted price, Jurgen Klopp finally get his man and provide his squad with even more balance.
The Reds have lacked an influential playmaker since Philippe Coutinho left the squad but signing Fekir would solve that issue and potentially provide the Anfield outfit with even more options than the Brazilian did.
The Barcelona midfielder was able to function on the left wing, as a no.10 and as a no.8 with fewer defensive responsibilities but Fekir is a lot more versatile.
The Lyon skipper can play as a no.10, no.8, on both wings and even as a false nine if need be. His finishing is so strong that he can outshoot most midfielders and wouldn’t appear out of place as a no.9 against weaker sides.
Fekir has been involved in over 50 goals in his last two seasons for Lyon. His stellar numbers will surely still be popping up on Michael Edwards’ trusty computer and if his £15m price tag is accurate, the sporting director has certainly mentioned him to Jurgen Klopp and the owners again.
As the German favours a 4-3-3, playing him as a no.8 would not be an issue and later in games, he could easily be shifted forward to allow one of Salah, Mane or Firmino the chance to be substituted.
4-3-3: Alisson, Robbo, van Dijk, Gomez, Trent, Fabinho, Hendo, Fekir, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
