Lyon are prepared to let Nabil Fekir leave the club this summer and OL journalist Vincent Duluc says he is available for just £15m.
He said: “Fekir is announced on departure by Jean-Michel Aulas himself and I think that even for 15 million euros, he is ready to sell it.
“This is a really unique record in the Mercato Lyon because internally, we were really scalded by his aborted transfer to Liverpool last year.”
Fekir’s attempt to move to Liverpool last summer was much publicised and the fall out was followed even more feverishly by both the English and the French press.
The attacking midfielder was pictured wearing Liverpool kit in an interview with LFCTV that was leaked to social media, making the whole saga that much more dramatic and frustrating.
The Reds were the ones to pull the plug on a deal to sign Fekir for £53m last summer as they had concerns over his potential to suffer a reoccurrence of the ACL injury that sidelined him for 213 days between September 2015 and and April 2016.
It was totally understandable that Liverpool didn’t want to sign Fekir for so much money if he was an injury risk but if he’s available for only slightly more than what was paid to sign Shaqiri, then there is little risk behind the move.
Fekir scored 12 goals and assisted 9 this season, making him a better no.10 than is currently available at Anfield already.
This is a move which makes sense for all parties.
