Jurgen Klopp might not renew his Liverpool contract, according to ESPN, with the German allegedly keen to take a sabbatical in 2022.
He guided the Reds to their sixth Champions League title on Saturday as a wonderful season came to a close in the best possible way.
While he and every Liverpool fan around the globe would have also like to see the Premier League trophy head to Anfield, they will all settle for the biggest trophy in the club game.
According to Melissa Reddy, the club’s owners are hopeful Klopp will sign another contract extension but won’t pressure him into making any decisions that he doesn’t want to.
Klopp has only every spent seven years at a single club and, if he doesn’t renew his deal beyond 2022, he will end his Liverpool career having spent seven good years on Merseyside.
As things stand, Liverpool will only offer Klopp new terms if he expresses a desire to renew his contract which he has yet to do.
With three years still remaining on his contract, there is no reason to fret just yet but for the sake of continued success. getting the 51-year-old to commit to the club for another two or three years is crucial.
The relationship Klopp shares with FSG, as Reddy explains, is extremely strong and there would not be any issues with renegotiating an extension if it came to pass.
