The Liverpool manager joked to LFCTV that it must be difficult to support any other team than the Reds if you live on Merseyside.

He said: “I don’t know exactly how many people live in Liverpool but it does not look like there is a lot of space for fans of other clubs.

“It is incredible. If you are a young kid, which do you support? There are not a lot of opportunities or options other than Liverpool. You see in the eyes how much it means. It is really intense.”

The victory at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium means that this incredible season ends with the silverware that the Reds deserve after they narrowly lost the Premier League title to Manchester City.

Not only will winning the Champions League take some of the pressure off, it will also make signing top players this summer a lot easier as Klopp will not need to make an extensive pitch to his targets.

Any player on Liverpool’s transfer list will be fully aware of the project that is underway at Anfield and will likely want in before Klopp comes calling.
