Lyon sporting director Juninho says that only three players will leave the club this summer and Memphis Depay will not be among the departures.
He said: “There will only be three departures from the club this summer and they won’t be either Moussa Dembele or Memphis Depay.
“Moussa’s form has been a nice surprise for us this season. He’s very good technically and we want to build on that.” We want to keep him and we will.”
Liverpool fans have shown a desire in recent weeks to see Depay join the club as Jurgen Klopp eyes a summer move for a new attacker.
Daniel Sturridge will leave the club after the Champions League final as his contract is set to expire at the end of June after spending six years with the Anfield outfit.
The Englishman’s absence won’t be keenly felt as he appeared in Red for just 664 minutes this season.
A versatile forward is needed and although Liverpool would be better off moving for a high quality forward, finding a top attacker who is willing to warm the bench is really difficult.
Instead, Klopp should target a young forward with a lot of potential that can come in and learn from Mane, Salah and Firmino and provide competition for the trio.
