Lyon forward Maxwel Cornet has commented on a potential move to Liverpool, telling beIN Sports that there is no point in ruling out a switch to the Reds.
It seems as though a new Lyon player is tied to a move to Liverpool with each passing week and the latest name mentioned in connection with the Reds is Maxwel Cornet.
The 22-year-old was interviewed by beIN Sport and questioned over whether he would make a move to Merseyside and intriguingly refused to deny the possibility.
He said: “I did not say I wanted to leave. We met the president [Jean-Michel Aulas] in January, and I said I wanted to extend [my contract], but talks were not successful.
“Liverpool are a big club, any links are flattering. I’m under contract until 2021, but you never know in football so we’ll see.”
Not only were Liverpool on the verge of completing a £53million deal for Nabil Fekir last summer, it seems as though Jurgen Klopp is hunting at least one Lyon star, with Depay, Ndombele and Aouar all scouted recently.
Fans have shown their desire to see Depay join the club this summer despite his ties with Manchester United while links to Fekir seem well and truly dead in the water.
The Dutchman’s raw talent would be a good fit for Klopp, with the German proving that he can turn raw stars into world beaters with his coaching of Firmino, Wijnaldum and Mane proof of this.
