Jurgen Klopp offered a fitness update to Liverpoolfc.com on Thursday afternoon as Liverpool continue their Champions League final preparation in Marbella.
Heading into the match against Tottenham, the Reds are favourites but will not be complacent as they are fully aware of how dangerous their Premier League rivals can be.
Mauricio Pochettino is a fine manager and much like Klopp, will be keen to shut his critics up by winning his first major trophy with Spurs.
Klopp told the club’s website: “Bobby looks really good (and) he is now part of training.
“Yesterday, he was only playing as a ‘joker’ (in the small-sided games) but it is good for him, the first step to play football again.
“Today he was in around about 70% of the session. Tomorrow he will probably be in complete, we will see, then hopefully it will be fine.”
On Keita, Klopp added: “Naby is, I would say, a bit ahead of schedule, but that doesn’t mean anything for the final. He is now doing straight runs and all of that stuff, he feels comfortable with 50 per cent intensity and these things – but there is still a way to go.”
It seems as though Firmino will be fit in time for the final in Madrid but that Keita will just miss out. It would be amazing to have both players fit and firing but Klopp will be grateful to have Firmino available even if it means Keita can’t feature.
Beating Spurs in Madrid will secure Liverpool’s sixth European Cup, at least more than double the number of times of any other English club.
