The money Liverpool could earn from Champions League win

Liverpool could receive a tremendous financial boost if they win the Champions League this season after making it to the final where they will face Tottenham.

Anfield saw its best ever European comeback on Tuesday evening when the Reds came back from 3-0 down to beat Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate, booking their place in the Champions League final in the progress.

Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum scored two goals each while Alisson Becker made several important saves to preserve the all-important clean sheet.

The scenes after full time were incredible to watch as Jurgen Klopp and his players stood in front of the Kop and sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ with the supporters.

Before the amazing comeback, there was already a great atmosphere around the club after an amazing season but following the game, the fans, players and staff are in an even better mood.

While playing in a Champions League final and potentially winning it would be reward enough, the fact that the club will receive huge financial rewards on top of that is an added bonus.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the club will receive £35.66million in performance-related bonuses after they beat Barcelona to reach the Champions League final.

Last season, the Reds banked £70million after reaching the final and this will be higher this time around as UEFA have implemented a new coefficient based system which rewards sides for past European Cup wins.

While Liverpool aren’t as rich as some clubs in Europe, their continued excellence at the highest level is seeing them grow financially every season.
