Manchester City have the chance to be named Premier League champions this weekend with a win over Brighton but the Seagulls are aiming to spoil the party.
Speaking to the Mirror, Matt Ryan said: “The most surreal thing is having friends and family who are Liverpool supporters and having the opportunity to have such a big influence on history.
“I can’t help but think back to Man City a few years ago when they played QPR [who finished fourth-bottom in that 2011-12 season, the place Brighton now occupy] and they almost caused the biggest upset.
“If we can disturb the party, it would be nice.”
The Australian is aiming to help Liverpool win the Premier League title and while there is a chance that Brighton could get a result against Man City, Jurgen Klopp’s side will be focused on themselves.
The Reds will face Wolves at Anfield on Sunday and will know that they will have to be at their very best to ensure that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men don’t cause an upset of their own.
Liverpool’s players might be a tad tired when they take to the pitch this weekend after the intensity of their incredible comeback win over Barcelona on Tuesday.
Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum each scored a brace to send the Reds into the Champions League final.
They will face Spurs next month and the two English sides will battle it out for the European crown.
