Nathaniel Clyne is likely to leave Liverpool this summer and needs to be replaced with a younger more adventurous talent and Ricardo Pereira is the man Jurgen Klopp should target.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has firmly established himself in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.
He earned himself a spot in the PFA Team of the Year ahead of the talented Aaron Wan-Bissaka, assisting 13 goals for his teammates in 28 appearances.
Most impressively, he has made fans forget about Clyne after the right back moved to Bournemouth on loan in January.
Many supporters thought at the time that it was a huge mistake to allow the former Southampton man to leave halfway through the season as it left the Reds without depth.
To an extent, it was a mistake as Trent suffered an injury soon after which meant Fabinho, James Milner and Jordan Henderson had to take turns at right back.
With it likely that Clyne will secure a move away from Liverpool this summer, a new right back will be on the agenda and Leicester City’s Ricardo Pereira would fit the bill perfectly.
His dribbling ability, superb attacking presence and tenacious defensive attitude would make him the ideal target and would allow Liverpool the chance to rotate Trent in and out of the starting XI to prevent injury.
Signing Ricardo would mean that the Reds wouldn’t lose any of their threat in the attacking third if Trent suffered an injury or was suspended.
Given that he only joined Leicester at the start of the season and is already a key figure in Brendan Rodgers’ mission to develop the Foxes into a top six side, it would be difficult to prize him away.
Money talks though and a substantial offer to Leicester and the player could see a deal agreed.
Michael Edwards is known for engineering cheeky deals like these and this is one that would be particularly impressive.
