Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli has opened talks with Alberto Moreno over a summer move, according to Turkish news outlet Fanatik.
The Spaniard has been on the fringes of the Liverpool squad since he was unfortunate enough to get injured in December 2017.
Moreno was in fine form and had been a surprising key figure in Liverpool’s Champions League group stage success on the way to the final last season.
After he suffered an injury, Andy Robertson was given a run in the side and has been the first choice left back since.
Turkish news outlet Fanatik reports that Moreno is on Fenerbahce’s summer transfer shortlist.
Former Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli, now operating as sporting director for the Super Lig outfit, has reportedly held talks with Moreno’s representatives.
Moreno’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season which makes him a prime target for Fenerbahce as the Turks are limited to signing free agents due to financial restraints.
The former Sevilla man will be a big miss not on the football pitch but in the dressing room as he is a popular member of the Liverpool squad and is one who is visibly enjoyable to be around.
The likes of Firmino, Alisson and Fabinho will miss the 26-year-old as he is a good friend of theirs.
While it’s disappointing that Liverpool will not receive any kind of fee for Moreno, his departure will open the door for Klopp to sign Ryan Sessegnon or another exciting young fullback to learn from Andy Robertson.
This summer will be about adding quality in depth to a number of positions as Klopp has built himself a great starting XI.
