Liverpool fans were furious with Lionel Messi as the Barcelona forward rolled around on the Camp Nou turf trying to get James Milner booked.
It has been five years since Messi last won the Champions League and the 31-year-old did what he does best in high-pressure games.
His second-half brace struck Liverpool’s Champions League hopes a hammer blow as they will now need four goals from open play to beat the Catalonians to the final in Madrid.
Messi was majestic when he was given the time and space he works so well with but Liverpool fans were angry with the way he over-exaggerated a foul from James Milner.
The Englishman shoulder barged the Barcelona no.10 off the ball which he used to roll around on the pitch in the hope he would get Milner booked.
Liverpool fans reacted angrily on Twitter, accusing Messi of being just as bad as Neymar.

Liverpool will need to produce something historic at Anfield to make it to the Champions League final.
Barcelona’s 3-0 lead could be enough for them to travel to Merseyside and simply pass the ball around Liverpool and waste time until they are confirmed safe passage to the UEFA showpiece in Madrid.
