Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is being tracked by Bournemouth as the Cherries look to sign a new shot-stopper this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The Belgian is likely to leave at the end of the season after playing next to no football for Liverpool.
Alisson Becker’s arrival last summer has seriously damaged his game time but he will hopefully leave on a high if the Reds secure their sixth European Cup win.
The report from the Daily Mail indicate that Jack Butland is the preferred option for Eddie Howe and that Mignolet is on a three man shortlist.
Burnley’s Nick Pope is also of interest. Regardless of whether or not the Cherries make a move, it’s clear that Mignolet will be on his way out this summer.
He has been a loyal servant despite his limitations as a goalkeeper.
As the likes of James Milner have pointed out recently, Mignolet deserves nothing but praise for the way he has accepted his squad role this season.
Being paid tens of thousands of pounds a week would suggest that he and other Premier League footballers shouldn’t complain about a lot but the point stands.
Being sidelined as a professional footballer must be terribly frustrating but Mignolet has been a credit to his side and is apparently a key figure in the dressing room.
