Jamie Carragher told Monday Night Football that he thinks Fabinho is a better defensive midfielder than Jordan Henderson is.

The last two weeks have been the best for a long time for the Reds’ midfield. A new mixture of energy, defensive solidity and creativity has strengthened Liverpool in several ways.

Henderson’s move into the no.8 role has sparked debate over who is the better no.6 between him and Fabinho. It’s a non-contest, really.

Carragher told Sky Sports: “Listen, Fabinho in that position, Fabinho can’t run. Jordan Henderson can run but Fabinho I think in that position is better than Jordan Henderson, the way he reads situations, he snuffs things out more even though he hasn’t got the legs of him.

“Do you understand what I mean? It’s a different type of position. The position you’re talking about is playing to his strengths because it’s all about energy and running, the holding role wasn’t playing to his strengths.”

Unless Liverpool sign a new midfielder in the summer, Klopp will have a tough job trying to improve the midfield that has played the last two games in all competitions.

A midfield trio of Fabinho, Henderson and Naby Keita has just about everything. Pace, dynamism, creativity and goals – it’s all there.

All Klopp needs to do now is play to that midfield’s strengths.

Liverpool have a maximum of eight games remaining this season if they make it to the Champions League final.

Supporters are extremely excited about what the end of the season could yield.

There is the potential for a league and European cup double which would exceed even the most optimistic fan’s expectations.

Fingers crossed!
