Sadio Mane told Liverpool’s official magazine that he is desperate to become a legend at the club amid reported interest from Real Madrid.
The former Southampton forward has been sublime for the Reds this season. His 18 goals in the Premier League have kept Liverpool’s title aspirations alive.
“Of course I want to be a legend not only for Liverpool but also in the Premier League story and that is one of my targets. I will do everything possible to achieve everything possible,” Mane told the official LFC magazine.
“Reaching 100 games means a lot to me. To play this many games for a club like Liverpool is incredible.”
Without Mane’s goals in 2019, Liverpool would be out of the title race and potentially out of the UEFA Champions League as well.
Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have struggled for goals this year even though they have been in good form over the last few weeks.
With Real Madrid reportedly interested in signing Mane this summer, supporters will be overjoyed to hear him reaffirming his love for the club.
After Philippe Coutinho left last January, insecurity within the fan base was revealed as supporters felt good players were only using Liverpool as a stepping stone in their careers.
Raheem Sterling, Coutinho and Luis Suarez for were there for Liverpool’s last serious title challenge but they all jumped ship as soon as they could.
Mane and co. realise now that under Jurgen Klopp, there is a real vision for the club and a genuine chance of becoming legends.
