Jurgen Klopp provided a positive injury update on Jordan Henderson after the captain left the pitch against Chelsea with a sore ankle.
Just as he was against Porto, Henderson was fantastic as a no.8 when he faced Chelsea on Sunday.
The 28-year-old’s energy and desire proved to be too much to handle for the Blues as he played a major role in Sadio Mane’s opener.
“He got a knock on his ankle, that’s pretty much all,” the manager told the club’s official website. “He was fine after the game.
“A bit of pain, no problem, [he] didn’t twist [it]. It’s only painful, not a problem.”
With the midfielder’s new role in the Liverpool side allowing him the freedom to get forward and affect the game closer to the opposition’s goal, he is thriving.
Since being handed a cameo against Southampton as no.8 and then playing there again a few days later, he has been hugely involved in several goals.
He got a goal and an assist against Southampton and set Trent Alexander-Arnold up for an assist to Robert Firmino against Porto. Against Chelsea, the former Sunderland man was brilliant for Sadio Mane’s goal.
A strong run to the byline and a beautiful dink to the far post provided Mane with the chance to score past Kepa.
Mohamed Salah scored two minutes later with an absolute rocket into the top corner to lift the roof of Anfield.
Liverpool’s win over Chelsea means that they go back to the top of the table above Manchester City with four games to go.
