Don Hutchison told Premier League Productions that he thinks Crystal Palace could hand the initiative in the title race to Liverpool by beating Manchester City.
City face the Eagles this weekend and, after losing 3-2 to them earlier this season, will be aware that they aren’t a side to be trifled with. Liverpool also have a tough game as they face Chelsea, who have won their last three games in a row.
“I’ve got two or three games that could hurt Manchester City but I don’t think Crystal Palace is a walkover,” Hutchison told Premier League Productions.
“I don’t think they are going to walk into Selhurst Park and get an easy ride. It might be tough for them.”
Liverpool fans are absolutely desperate to see Manchester City drop points and go on to win the Premier League for the first time.
The Reds might be two points clear of their rivals but Pep Guardiola’s team has a game in hand which could see them take a one-point advantage.
The hope for Liverpool is that Crystal Palace, Spurs or Manchester United can take points from the current Premier League champions and hand the Reds a huge advantage in the title race.
For Liverpool, there is still a lot of important work to be done, with five huge games remaining before the end of the season. Chelsea at home on Sunday is the first hurdle and if Klopp’s men can overcome the Blues, belief will be coursing through his players.
The good news for Liverpool is that all their important players are hitting a rich vein of form at precisely the right time.
Roberto Firmino has rediscovered his samba magic and Naby Keita is scything through midfields like a hot knife through butter.
With the Reds gearing up for the run-in, all they need is a slice of luck to reward them for all their hard work this season.
