Liverpool will be pleased to hear that Real Madrid are reportedly stepping up their bid to sign Eden Hazard.
Surely that means they will end their interest in Sadio Mane.
The Telegraph reports that Los Blancos are ramping up their efforts to make Hazard the first signing under Zidane’s second reign as Madrid chief.
For Liverpool, who have made it clear that they won’t be selling their key players, this is great news. Sadio Mane, a target of Madrid’s according to Marca, will hopefully be staying at the club.
The Senegal international has scored 21 goals this season and has carried the Reds forward in their Premier League title bid as Mo Salah and Bobby Firmino have struggled for form.
Mane joined the Reds in 2016 and quickly became one of the stars under Jurgen Klopp and this season he has stepped up his importance with his goals since the turn of the year.
While it will take some doing to beat Salah’s 44 goals from last season, Mane has it in him to become the top goalscorer in the Premier League either this season or next.
All he needs is to find more consistency around the festive period and he will be able to outscore most any forward in the league.
That said, Klopp won’t care which of his forwards are racking up the goals so long as Liverpool keep winning and moving forward.
With a maximum of 10 games remaining this season, the German will need goals from his star men up front to have any chance of securing his first piece of silverware as Liverpool boss.
He’s come close on several occasions and winning either the Premier League or Champions League this season would further validate the superb work he’s done at the club.
