Ryan Bertrand told Sky Sports that he has no special plans to prepare for facing up against Mohamed Salah but is going to target his weaknesses.

The Egyptian has suffered a loss of form over the last two months but every fullback in the league will know he is capable of exploding back into life at any points. Bertrand will be the same.

Asked about the prospect of going up against Salah, Bertrand told Sky Sports News“It’s always good to play against the best players. That is why you play and it’s the ultimate aim.

“I won’t change my preparations. I’m just looking forward to seeing his strengths and seeing his weaknesses and trying to nullify some and exploiting the others.”

Liverpool need to beat Southampton to stay relevant in the title race but the Saints are in just as much need of a win in order to avoid total irrelevance as they face slipping closer to the relegation zone.

As much as it would have been nice to know that maybe Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side wouldn’t have put up as much of a fight, the South Coast outfit are sure to give it their all to get a result.

Having said that, if the Reds slip up to a side facing relegation, they really don’t deserve to win the Premier League title. It’s beginning to look more and more likely that six wins from the next six games is what it will take to be within a shout of overtaking Manchester City in the title race.

The champions still have Spurs and Manchester United to face as well as a tricky trip to Crystal Palace. The Eagles beat Pep Guardiola’s side 3-2 earlier in the season and Liverpool fans are desperate to see them do it again.
