Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports that Sergio Aguero will miss Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Cardiff this evening.

The former Atletico Madrid forward (19) is the Premier League’s top goalscorer this season and is at least two goals ahead of every other player in the league.

“He didn’t train the last two days, tomorrow he is not able [to play],” said Guardiola. “Hopefully next Saturday or Tuesday but we will see the evolution in the next few days.”

This will come as a slight boost to both Liverpool’s title chances and the hopes that Mane and Salah share of winning the Golden Boot.

Both forwards are on 17 goals, just two shy of drawing level with Aguero. Salah, in particular, needs to get back to goalscoring ways as the Egyptian is on a six-game goal drought.

Jurgen Klopp won’t be too concerned as the former AS Roma striker has still been heavily involved in the creation and scoring of other goals for Liverpool.

It was his header that Hugo Lloris fumbled and caused Toby Alderweireld to put into the back of his own net.

Of course, City won’t be too concerned about Aguero’s absence as they have such tremendous depth in attacking areas. Guardiola has already confirmed that Jesus will start in his place.

Liverpool have actually accomplished a great deal this season without having won anything. By going tit for tat with City, the Reds have proved that financial-doping doesn’t guarantee you success.

If Jurgen Klopp guides his side to Premier League glory, opposition fans should rejoice as City are the real enemy. Their rule-breaking is something every side in England should be furious about.

Having said that, if every fan from opposition sides is angry about a Liverpool title win, that could be just as satisfying.
