Dejan Lovren could join one of Roma, Napoli or AC Milan this summer, reports the Mirror.
The Croatian has been at Liverpool for five years and is a player that fans have loved and hated in equal measure. While most recognise that he has talent, it’s his habit of making costly errors that bothers supporters.
With Joe Gomez first in line in Jurgen Klopp’s pecking order and Joel Matip impressing this season, Dejan Lovren is the third choice to partner Virgil van Dijk.
With AS Roma eyeing up replacements in case they lose Kostas Manolas and Napoli doing the same in case Kalidou Koulibaly leaves the club this summer, the Mirror reports that Lovren has emerged as a potential option.
Selling Lovren will appeal to most Liverpool supporters given his rash defending and irritating habit of making bold claims during interviews and almost always following it up by making a clanger in his next game.
If the Croatian is indeed leaving this summer, Klopp will likely be after a new centre back as a deputy to van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
I would have preferred to see a top class defender come in but with the latter making an injury return, Klopp will probably give the young defender the chance to prove his long term fitness.
This summer will be interesting as there will be several ins and outs for the Reds. It will be fascinating to see what the Liverpool squad looks like in five months’ time.
