Liverpool will have to pay £55million or more to sign Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa this summer, according to Calciomercato.
The Italian has scored 12 goals and assisted 3 in 27 games this season and is attracting a lot of attention from clubs across Europe.
Calciomercato claim that Fiorentina will not accept less than £55million for Chiesa and after Tutto Napoli suggested that Jurgen Klopp has enquired after the player’s availability, it will be interesting to see where this story goes.
Paying £55m is a bit steep for Chiesa and with that kind of cash, I believe that Klopp could either sign someone better in his position or reinforce another area of the squad.
Liverpool are unlikely to spend big money this season and Jurgen Klopp has said as much to the media. The German believes that all that is needed is a few touch ups to the squad and not a big cash injection as we’ve seen in the last few seasons.
Signing van Dijk, Keita, Fabinho, Alisson and Shaqiri all in the same year was expensive but necessary. With a world-class spine now in place, all that is needed is a few tweaks which shouldn’t cost too much.
Having said all that, Klopp has never admitted to the media that he is set to embark on a summer spending spree as he knows it would discourage the players currently in the side. Instead, he says that he won’t spend a lot.
Alisson’s deal is a prime example of this. Liverpool acted quickly and confidently to sign the Brazilian when they realised signing him was a possibility.
